Abstract

The Native American and Indigenous Studies 2008 Conference was held 10-12 April 2008 in Athens, Georgia, USA. The Conference was scholarly and interdisciplinary and attracted over 400 Indigenous people from North, Central and South America, Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia working in an array of disciplines and fields. This was the second in a series of international scholarly meetings. The first was held in Oklahoma last year. The third will be held at the American Indian Studies Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities 21-23 May 2009. This presentation will share some of the highlights from the 2008 Native American and Indigenous Studies Conference, and explain why it was resolved to establish the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association and how you can become involved in the future.

Citation countsare sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
