Most of the time I find edited collections a bit of a hit and miss. They can either contain a collection of the best writers in a particular discipline or field, or be an eclectic mix of chapters so diverse that only one or two chapters might be relevant to my interests. From this perspective, Sovereign Subjects: Indigenous Sovereignty Matters is a surprise. It is also timely given Prime Minister Rudd’s Apology to the Stolen Generations, the national Close the Gap Campaign and a seemingly renewed interest by Australians in Indigenous history...
