Through their involvement in research and action, young people are able to give an authentic voice to their concerns and experiences regarding schooling. Image-based research can highlight students' views about their social and cultural environment and contribute to change, including progress towards more democratic secondary schools. This chapter reports on a secondary school research project illustrating that students' use of image-based research is an appropriate methodology for school review and development aimed towards addressing students' social and academic needs.
