Conclusion : applying learnings about resilience and coping across service organisations, communities and individuals

Abstract

This text has addressed a number of aspects of resilience, coping and recovery at the individual and community levels. the apprach in this final chapter, by distilling the contents of the main chapters in this book, is to determine the contributions in terms of what methods and types of preparedness, that the experience of service organisations - those groups who are the first presenters at scenes of natural disasters - can contribute to the wider community; and then to address what it is that the community needs in terms of preparedness; then to raise some of the issues mentioned about individual resilience and coping. Finally some of the tips for coping utilised in the context of what individuals can do within service organisations and more generally are reiterated.
