On the nature and interpretation of some correlations
Dmitriev, Ye A. & Prasolova, Nina (1991) On the nature and interpretation of some correlations. Vestnik of Moscow State University, Ser.17 (with English abstracts), 10, pp. 8-14.
In studying correlations between random variables correlation coefficients may have no relation to the nature of the problem studied despite having high absolute values. Care must therefore be taken in interpreting the results of a correlation analysis involving the assessment of relationship between increments and initial values, or between the amount of substances in one soil layer and the whole profile.
