The University of Tasmania's biennial timber workshop provides opportunity for collaborative experimentation through building. Each summer students gather for a few days to participate in another of Ian Clayton's and Robin Green's forays into timber engineering. For the duration of the workshop chaos appears to reign as nigh-on-impossible feats with timber are tested. And then another two years pass; a time during which Clayton and Green iterate another brief for the next timber workshop. And the experiment begins again. The contrast between the high-energy of the workshops and the apparent quiet of the month between the sharp bursts of experimentation and knowledge-building that the workshops bring and the long periods of reflection which allow the collaborators to finely tune their understandings of both timber engineering and teaching.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
