The use and abuse of contact lens solutions
Successful contact lens wear happens only when ther is compatability of all components of the wearing environment: the ocular tissues, the contact lens itself, and its care system chemistry. Contact lens care solutions are formulated to optimise their actions and to sure that neither corneal nor contact lens integrity is compromised. In meeting this objective, solution properties such as pH and tonicity are among the most important. Although they are not typically listed on labels or given as insert information, these properties have been studied and evaluated for many solutions.
Impact and interest:
Citation counts are sourced monthly from and citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
