Research Seminar Presentation: Issues of Coordinate Collection Technologies for Rural Property Boundary Surveys in Queensland
Webb, Robert M. (2000) Research Seminar Presentation: Issues of Coordinate Collection Technologies for Rural Property Boundary Surveys in Queensland. (Unpublished)
The use of coordinates as a description and their limitation is analysed given the recent advances and proliferation of GPS measurement technology in the surveying and mapping industry. While the use of coordinates is in essence a representation of the reality at a given point in time, it is shown that they can be used within a well-defined framework for summary purposes. The issues surrounding GPS calibration and traceability are explored as a means of demonstrating conformance to suitably recognised quantities of length and time.
A rural property boundary survey undertaken for subdivision purposes is investigated in some detail to provide comparative discussion on issues of changing methods and evolving technology approaches to a measurement challenge using GPS techniques.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from and citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
Citations counts from theindexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
Full-text downloads displays the total number of times this work’s files (e.g., a PDF) have been downloaded from QUT ePrints as well as the number of downloads in the previous 365 days. The count includes downloads for all files if a work has more than one.
