The research aims to assess the experience of selected Australian entrepreneurial ventures in foreign markets. Specifically, the research will touch on market entry issues such as market characteristics, speed of entry, international marketing learning, importance of networking, risk and flexibility. Drawing from existing literature relating to foreign market entry, internationalisation and entrepreneurial ventures, the research will examine a range of factors that will have an impact on successful market entry and determine whether these are applicable to the entrepreneurial ventures in Australia.
The findings from the study, which will form part of the writer’s PhD research, are meant to contribute to a body of knowledge encompassing the cross-border operations of entrepreneurial ventures. The research also has value from a practical perspective as Australian entrepreneurial ventures can draw from this body of knowledge as they pursue opportunities from country to country.
