Information Systems (IS) donations through aid programs from international agencies and Developed Countries significantly supplement the inadequate IS investment and support in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The impact of IS proliferation is varied in different LDCs. These countries are faced with a myriad of challenges including political, technical and economical, and are struggling in keeping pace with the rapid advances in technology. This research-in-progress paper discusses the issues and implications of donor assisted IS implementation in LDCs. It focuses on Papua New Guinea as part of an ongoing study to investigate and determine the factors that influence IS success in organizations in that country.
