Abstract
While organisers of major events like the Olympics, the Goodwill Games and CHOGM, actively seek out support from journalism faculties to provide students to do mainly
menial tasks at media centres for these major events, when it comes to accrediting student journalists to report on these news events, it’s another matter. The author looks at the difficulties journalism students at QUT had in reporting the Goodwill
Games and CHOGM for their broadcast outlets in Brisbane.
