The paper presents and overview of global position sys-tem (GPS) signal based power system angle measurements and control. In this we shall discuss phasor measurement units (PMUs), wide-area measurement (WAM) and wide-area control system (WACS). We shall also discuss the opportunities that are currently arising due the use of satellite and high speed computer communication systems.
