Building Bridges: An oral history collection of B&R Pty Ltd
|Accepted Version (PDF 1MB) |
Abstract Building Bridges: an oral history collection of B&R Pty Ltd traces the founding and development of this unique, Australian, company from its earnest beginnings fifty years ago to its formidable market position today. This collection includes interviews gathered to piece together a picture of how and why B&R developed—aiming to capture the collective spirit of this fascinating post war Australian company, recording its challenges and achievements along the way. A mediated oral history approach was used to gather stories about their history. This use of oral history was a way of cementing the known recorded facts and adding colour to the formal historical outline, so as to create a credible text containing 'real' people's stories. This research helps to unite the B&R history and produced as a primary resource that a short historical biography could draw from, being inclusive of different viewpoints within the organisation.
