Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to:
1. Review the existing literature on international tourists and road safety in the lead up to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
2. Suggest road safety issues that travel medicine practitioners should include in pretravel advice for travelers visiting Australia.
3. Identify areas where further research is needed to form the foundation for applied road safety initiatives.
