Abstract

Composition for guitar and string quartet reflecting South East Queensland's landscape of volcanic plugs, lakes, plains, ocean and bushland. The basis of the musical structure is textural contrasts, and central ideas take as starting points melodic shapes of indigenous Gabi Gabi music, stratified functional tonality and common-note modulation.
