Description

The piece we share in this chapter reflects on our PhD journeys that commonly involved media architecture for community engagement and digital placemaking. Our separate studies in two different parts of Australia, included the design and deployment of various urban interventions in the form of digitally augmented pop-ups (Caldwell, Guaralda, Donovan, & Rittenbruch, 2016; Fredericks, Hespanhol, & Tomitsch, 2016), that incorporated both digital and physical media channels. Our story here is not to focus on those individual interventions but to reflect on our learnings, and discuss how our thinking has evolved and progressed as a result of this. We also unpack what we have learned through this process, in particular the value of collaboration, which ultimately pushes local discussion around digital placemaking even further.

Search Google Scholar™

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
