Description

Feuds within the family caused by sorcery related accusations create rifts that sometimes are difficult to resolve. Lynne Gene’s shares her experiences of sorcery accusations and the impact on her extended family. In mediating the conflict and disruptions experienced Lynne focused on the well-being of children. She made sure the children received an education and supported them throughout their journey. Because she knew of the lasting impact and the divisiveness of sorcery accusations on the family, she encouraged all the children to nurture their relationship with one another and remain committed to pursuing education. Lynne strongly advocates for children to have the right to live a life without violence. Stori Bilong Lynne Gene was produced as part of the Yumi Sanap Strong initiative, a community led initiative that emerged from an action research project undertaken by Queensland University of Technology in partnership with the University of Goroka and community-based partner organisations. The project develops communication strategies and materials to address sorcery accusation related violence in Papua New Guinea. The community partner organisation for this digital story was Kup Women for Peace in the Simbu Province, Papua New Guinea.

Search Google Scholar™

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
