Stori Bilong Dominic James - Yumi Sanap Strong

Dominic joined the Bougainville Revolutionary Army when he was young, to protect his family during the Bougainville civil war. He was in the BRA when the command was given to kill all those considered sorcerers. After the crisis, Dominic learnt about human rights and with new accusations of sorcery emerging made a clear stand to advocate for the rights of all people to live free of any forms of violence. Stori Bilong Dominic James was produced as part of the Yumi Sanap Strong initiative, a community led initiative that emerged from an action research project undertaken by Queensland University of Technology in partnership with the University of Goroka and community-based partner organisations. The project develops communication strategies and materials to address sorcery accusation related violence in Papua New Guinea. The community partner organisation for this digital story was the Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
