Description

This participatory artwork was developed and presented as part of the Doing Feminism/ Sharing the World residency program, curated by Professor Anne Marsh. The residency took place at Norma Redpath House, Melbourne in February 2018. This was the final iteration of a collaborative work by the feminist collective LEVEL, We need to talk, a series of participatory events in the form of workshops and public picnics. This work seeks to contribute to the ongoing dialogue between contemporary art and feminism. Feminism both informs and frames contemporary social practice in the visual arts in a number of significant ways, however this contribution is often overlooked or misrepresented. By re-examining methods of consciousness-raising in the contemporary moment, We need to talk investigates genealogical pathways of feminist practice and explicitly links these to current discussions of participatory and socially engaged art.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
