Geographic information systems implementation analysis: an examination of evaluation methodology
Description
An evaluation was carried out of the implementation process of a geographical information system developed for assistance with the analysis of land claims. The system being implemented was the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Land Claims System (ATSILCS). Preliminary analysis of the utility of the standard quality characteristics taking into account the software quality and information system evaluation literature has been carried out. It has been found that the standard criteria are oriented towards operational and maintenance staff, rather than end users, and are identifiable with older, more stable business areas. Further criteria such as those relating to flexibility should be included for effective end-user evaluation.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
