Description

Presented by Queensland Music Festival and Quilpie Shire Council, Echoes in the Dust (2021) was a regional Australian site-specific theatre performance. Presented at Baldy Top, a picturesque natural rock outcrop near Quilpie in western Queensland, Echoes in the Dust explored themes of environmental awareness and connection to land.

Presented as a theatricalised history of elements that have shaped the local landscape and community over the millennia, Echoes in the Dust used extended sonic realties in combination with the existing aural environment to create a unique experience for the audience in this remote community.

Combining live music from Topology, puppet performance by Dead Puppet Society, and responsive mediatised sounds with those of the sites environment, the practice-led research project explored how Aural Scenographic methods could be applied in a dynamic regional setting. The project’s aim was to create a site for placemaking and inclusion to question issues pertaining to the natural and cultural environment of the Quilpie region.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.

These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.

Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
