Description
This doctoral research program consists of three studies that developed and evaluated the effects of a novel web-delivered cognitive training intervention with game elements targeting pain and pain-related health outcomes in adults with chronic pain. The findings of this research have several clinical implications concerning the incorporation of gamification techniques into cognitive training tasks, the use of evaluated linguistic stimuli to investigate the cognitive processing of pain, and the therapeutic application of gamified cognitive training interventions for the management of chronic pain. Recommendations for future research are provided to further expand the existing literature of gamification, cognition, and chronic pain.
Impact and interest:
