Description
The popularity of home education as an alternative pathway in Australia and globally has increased, notably since the onset of COVID-19 in 2020. While both home educators and students cite numerous benefits, research suggests that the decision to home educate is not always permanent, with many students eventually transitioning back to mainstream education. A gap exists in understanding the reasons behind discontinuing home education. This study delves into the perspectives of parents who enrolled their home-educated children in mainstream schools. Through qualitative methods, the findings reveal complex decisions influenced by changes in circumstances and a lack of support.
Impact and interest:
Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
