Description
The objective is clear—to ensure AI technologies benefit all Australians while mitigating adverse impacts of unintended harms on individuals and the economy. However, the specifics for implementing this are a work in progress. The landscape for using artificial intelligence (AI) reflects a dynamic interplay between innovation, risk management, and ethical oversight. This article discusses how regulators are actively navigating the AI landscape, fostering cross-sector collaboration whilst focusing on ethical, safe, and accountable AI. The author argues that this endeavor will require the engagement at all levels of public service, civil society and professional communities of practice.

Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
