?url_ver=Z39.88-2004&rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Adc&rft.title='Going+live'+%3A+establishing+the+creative+attributes+of+the+live+multi-camera+television+professional&rft.creator=Bellany%2C+Jeanette+Anne&rft.subject=creativity%2C+individual+creativity%2C+collaborative+creativity%2C+intellectual+creativity%2C+reasoned+strategising%2C+time-future%2C+film+and+television%2C+television+production+teaching+practices%2C+live+television+pedagogies%2C+film+and+television+degrees&rft.subject=Australian+universities%2C+television+industry%2C+live+television%2C+multi-camera%2C+television+crew%2C+television+curriculum%2C+immersion%2C+immersive+learning%2C+film+school+fine+arts&rft.description=In+my+capacity+as+a+television+professional+and+teacher+specialising+in+multi-camera+live+television+production+for+over+40+years%2C+I+was+drawn+to+the+conclusion+that+opaque+or+inadequately+formed+understandings+of+how+creativity+applies+to+the+field+of+live+television%2C+have+impeded+the+development+of+pedagogies+suitable+to+the+teaching+of+live+television+in+universities.+In+the+pursuit+of+this+hypothesis%2C+the+thesis+shows+that+television+degrees+were+born+out+of+film+studies+degrees%2C+where+intellectual+creativity+was+aligned+to+single+camera+production%2C+and+the+'creative+roles'+of+producers%2C+directors+and+scriptwriters.+At+the+same+time%2C+multi-camera+live+television+production+was+subsumed+under+the+'mass+communication'+banner%2C+leading+to+an+understanding+that+roles+other+than+producer+and+director+are+simply+technical%2C+and+bereft+of+creative+intent+or+acumen.+The+thesis+goes+on+to+show+that+this+attitude+to+other+television+production+personnel%2C+for+example%2C+the+vision+mixer%2C+videotape+operator+and+camera+operator%2C+relegates+their+roles+to+that+of+'button+pusher'.+This+has+resulted+in+university+teaching+models+with+inappropriate+resources+and+unsuitable+teaching+practices.+As+a+result%2C+the+industry+is+struggling+to+find+people+with+the+skills+to+fill+the+demands+of+the+multi-camera+live+television+sector.%0D%0A%0D%0A+In+specific+terms+the+central+hypothesis+is+pursued+through+the+following+sequenced+approach.+Firstly%2C+the+thesis+sets+out+to+outline+the+problems%2C+and+traces+the+origins+of+the+misconceptions+that+hold+with+the+notion+that+intellectual+creativity+does+not+exist+in+live+multi-camera+television.+Secondly%2C+this+more+adequately+conceptualised+rendition%2C+of+the+origins+particular+to+the+misconceptions+of+live+television+and+creativity%2C+is+then+anchored+to+the+field+of+examination+by+presentation+of+the+foundations+of+the+roles+involved+in+making+live+television+programs%2C+using+multicamera+production+techniques.+Thirdly%2C+this+more+nuanced+rendition+of+the+field+sets+the+stage+for+a+thorough+analysis+of+education+and+training+in+the+industry%2C+and+teaching+models+at+Australian+universities.+The+findings+clearly+establish+that+the+pedagogical+models+are+aimed+at+single+camera+production%2C+a+position+that+deemphasises+the+creative+aspects+of+multi-camera+live+television+production.%0D%0A%0D%0A+Informed+by+an+examination+of+theories+of+learning%2C+qualitative+interviews%2C+professional+reflective+practice+and+observations%2C+the+roles+of+four+multi-camera+live+production+crewmembers+(camera+operator%2C+vision+mixer%2C+EVS%2Fvideotape+operator+and+director's+assistant)%2C+demonstrate+the+existence+of+intellectual+creativity+during+live+production.+Finally%2C+supported+by+the+theories+of+learning%2C+and+the+development+and+explication+of+a+successful+teaching+model%2C+a+new+approach+to+teaching+students+how+to+work+in+live+television+is+proposed+and+substantiated.&rft.publisher=Queensland+University+of+Technology&rft.date=2012&rft.type=Thesis&rft.format=application%2Fpdf&rft.relation=https%3A%2F%2Feprints.qut.edu.au%2F57730%2F1%2FJeanette_Bellany_Thesis.pdf&rft.rights=free_to_read&rft.relation=Bellany%2C+Jeanette+Anne+(2012)+'Going+live'+%3A+establishing+the+creative+attributes+of+the+live+multi-camera+television+professional.+PhD+thesis%2C+Queensland+University+of+Technology.&rft.id_number=https%3A%2F%2Feprints.qut.edu.au%2F57730%2F&rft.identifier=Creative+Industries+Faculty
