Summary and propositions
Description
While conducting research on inclusive education for students on the autism spectrum has become a global priority, conducting truly inclusive research in inclusive settings is complex. This chapter consolidates key research findings as a series of propositions which can be used by researchers as they strive to implement inclusive research approaches. These propositions encourage researchers to consider approaches that involve the co-production of research with people on the autism spectrum rather than on them. They also support researchers to appropriately conceptualise new research and to mobilise new knowledge for the benefit of all, including students on the autism spectrum, their families, teachers, and school communities. Involving students and their teachers in truly inclusive research approaches will result in improved participation and outcomes for all students, including those on the autism spectrum.
Impact and interest:
Citation counts are sourced monthly from Scopus and Web of Science® citation databases.
These databases contain citations from different subsets of available publications and different time periods and thus the citation count from each is usually different. Some works are not in either database and no count is displayed. Scopus includes citations from articles published in 1996 onwards, and Web of Science® generally from 1980 onwards.
Citations counts from the Google Scholar™ indexing service can be viewed at the linked Google Scholar™ search.
